I had an experience years ago that for some reason has stuck with me. I was in the subway, and a woman approached me speaking Chinese, pointing to a map. A few confused gestures were exchanged, until I finally figured out she was asking at which platform to wait for the train going to O'Hare Airport. She was extremely grateful when I figured out how to help, and broke out a "Thank you" in English. I REEEEEEALLY wish I could have said "You're welcome" in Chinese.
